The magic formula for innovation

Existential Innovation (X!) is the Rehashing & Disguising (R&D) of reality (stupidity) to suit your wantasee (the way you want to see the world)

Explanation of the 4 terms:

  1. STUPIDITY
    The world’s most abundant resource;
    the difference between what other people are doing and what you think is a better idea;
    that which makes Absolutely No Sense Whatso Ev R (Which contains the ANSWER);
    anything that leads to an OOPS - Observation Of Pure Stupidity.

    We’re going to find stupidity in the following places:

    1. CPT’s: Current Prevailing Trends
      The stupidity of CPT’s originates from a phenomenon known as
      ‘Why didn’t I think of it first?’ Well it’s never too late to think of it first! Driven by the power of jealousy and a desire to make improvements, you’re going to join the fastest growing extreme sport amoungst the top thinkers - PARAFRAZING,
      where you jump on a bandwagon, add wings and fly it your way!

    2. The mundane: everything making up your daily grind that goes under the heading of ‘whatever’

      Here we look at 6 ways to reframe the mundane, one of them being redefining
      e.g. Mundane: everything that makes up the Collection Of Common Knowledge & Universal Problems (The COCK-UP)

    3. Global stupidity
      The formula enables you to assimilate the problem as part of the solution to create crisatunities – opportunity from crisis

    4. Personal: self-induced nightmares e.g. moral dilemmas, anxieties, disillusion, relationship issues, beliefs – all the stuff that makes good TV, so that’s what we’re going to make.

    5. Corporate: everything holding up your proactive mission; all the reasons why you can’t ‘just do it’ - the system, gossip, traffice, junk mail, creative thinking seminars…

      By the end of the seminar you’ll know how to get all your issues & dysfunctions to work for you i.e.

  2. X! = Existential Innovation: if it doesn’t exist, make it

    Why existential?

    1. You’re bringing new things into existence by way of
    2. Questioning the meaning of life – an essential but pointless exercise:
      Pointless because we’re simply here, so forget the questions and just get on with it.
      Essential because asking the big questions is the catalyst of creativity
    3. Why add value when you can add an adjective? Giving innovation an adjective like ‘existential’ gives me the freedom to invent any story or product I like, based on my wantasee:

  3. Your WANTASEE – the power of wishful thinking

    Your wantasee is your unique view of the world, given to you by your Dreams ‘n Aspirations or D ‘n A. If you follow your fascination your D ‘n A will tell you exactly what to do. All very spiritual, but what are the creative & marketing implications?

    Inside your D ‘n A code is a problem-solving device that works by wishing things into existence:

    ‘I wish my crappy car was a sports car’ and
    VROOM! – ‘Pimp my Ride’ comes along

    ‘I wish there were biscuits that could help me digest food,’ and
    POOF! we have digestive biscuits

    I wish I was younger, and
    YOUTH! ‘40 is the new 20’ becomes a catchphrase

    I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair and
    INTERNET SENSATION! Sandi Thom has a hit song

    I wish I could just follow my passion and
    FREEDOM! ‘Just do it’ becomes a tagline

    I wish I had an MP3 player that could follow the tempo of my workout, and
    SONY! We have the S2 Sports Walkman that does exactly that

    The message is clear:

    Follow your D ‘n A and they come true

    Or if you like:

    Follow your fascinating delusions and they become real

    Or even:

    If you don’t have any Dreams ‘n Aspirations, you will by the end of the show

  4. R&D - Rehash & Disguise
    Our mission is the same as any R&D department – to Rehash & Disguise new products into existence. Rehashing & Disguising is essential partly to give off the perception that you’re always innovating and partly because some ideas are so brilliant they need to be copied without anyone noticing.
    There’s nothing new or devious about this:

    Einstein: ‘The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources’

    Evolution: genetic mutation is based on copy, paste & adapt (= rehash & disguise)

    Putting the two together:
    We need to borrow ideas in the same way that they need to be protected.
    In nature this battle for survival is called evolution. In business it's called innovation.
    Either way you're involved, so you may as well learn the process, which is used for

    1. Product development: using the extreme sport of PARAFRAZING, you’ll learn how to hop on a bandwagon, add wings and fly it your way e.g. you’ll see how Pop Idols became X- factor, Big Brother became I’m a Celebrity and how I came up with ‘Hey Jade’
    2. Business Strategy: While honesty and transparency are worth keeping in mind, they’re just not practical enough to suit every situation. It’s the rehashing and disguising of the strict truth that’s always been part of good business strategy, especially in the areas of
    3. Branding: where the objective is always to rehash your best bits & disguise your worst. If you don’t believe me, have a look at your resume
    4. Schmoozing, the most important part of networking, involves rehashing what you know and disguising what you don’t.
      This is the art of flirting for information – the proactive approach to getting lucky.

    5. Dealing with difficult customers, bosses & employees

    No matter how high up you go, you’re always going to have to answer to someone.
    This is known as the paradox of being God, because even God has to answer to shareholders.
    Using FOKU - the Façade Of Kindness & Understanding, you’ll learn how to smile for your salary (see lyrics) just by changing your attitude. When you learn how to understand other people’s problems without caring about them you get to laugh a lot more, but quietly to yourself. This involves ‘sucking it in’ where you have to rehash your words and disguise your true thoughts and feelings. But since they have to go somewhere they all end up in the movie of your mind, where all the good stuff lives.

    We rehash & disguise so naturally that it’s called

    Nateral Thinking - innovation without thinking. So natural is it that it’s used for:
    1. Survival: rehashing of good thoughts & disguising of bad thoughts to stay sane
    2. Self-expression: without realizing it we all become speakers connected to the mass media amplifier of other people’s ideas - something a DJ said, a line from a magazine, song lyrics, adverts etc. all get parafrazed into an opinion.
      When this happens you’re no longer copying or stealing but ‘adapting’ ‘upgrading’ ‘personalizing’ ‘being inspired or influenced’.
